THE GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE SURVEY ON THE WORKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ACCREDITATION BODIES AND INSTITUTIONS

The Global Quality Assurance Association (GQAA) is a non-governmental organization registered with the Registrar General’s Department for its work in quality assurance. It is also registered with the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare for its philanthropic quality assurance component. The GQAA is a non-profit organization that is working towards the improvement of quality in all dimensions and sectors including the higher education sector.
One of the key goals of the GQAA is to carry out authentic research that can yield data, results, conclusions and recommendations which are highly informative and useful to all sectors for genuine, relevant and real transformation to occur across the continent. Hayward (2006) acknowledged back then that there is limited data on accreditation and audits in much of Africa which the GQAA also acknowledges today. In addition, the data found is from other parts of the world and does not say much on the working relationships among the parties involved in the accreditation process, yet it is critical component in the successful implementation of this process which has a bearing at national level. Some data may also be available but scattered, not documented and publicized as should be the case for others to learn and improve as well as get assistance.
The GQAA, is therefore, undertaking this research to cover the above-mentioned gaps, among others and to contribute towards documented quality assurance knowledge, information and skills in Higher Education quality assurance. The research outputs will be shared with the respondents/participants and they will also be used to generate policy briefs that can assist in the improvement and transformation of the accreditation process for the better.
Individuals may choose to be anonymous or to disclose their identity, but all the data will be handled confidentially and used for research purposes only.
