THE GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION’s 5TH QUALITY ASSURANCE SEMINAR HOSTED BY St. LOUIS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, KUMASI, GHANA

The last round of the Global Quality Assurance Association’s Quality Assurance Seminars was hosted by St. Louis College of Education, Kumasi, Ghana, from the 22nd to the 23rd of July 2025. Attending the two-day workshop were delegates from the Ashanti/Ahafo zone & Eastern regions. They were coming from different institutions, namely:

GQAA- St. TERESA’s COLLEGE OF EDUCATION CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING

Dr Violet Makuku was engaged by St. Teresa College of Education, Hohoe, Ghana’s leadership team to conduct a two-day capacity-building workshop. It focused on Resource Mobilization, Research Methods, Academic Writing Skills and Grant Proposal writing from the 17th – 18th of June 2025 at the College. The workshop saw more than 50 personnel from all sectors attending together with the institution’s leadership. The training was expected to result in the development and enhancement of skills like creativity and innovation. This would help to figure out ways in which the institution could maximize its infrastructure, local resources, make revenue and draw more students to the institution. Dr. Violet Makuku steered the highly engaging workshop uniquely, allowing the staff members to express themselves while she offered guidance and partly offered solutions to some of the everyday problems they faced at the college. Through her expertise, she directed the participants to understand the concept of writing grant-winning proposals in ways that can enable the winning of grants, and how to mobilize resources for St. Teresa College of Education. THE GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION 3RD QUALITY ASSURANCE SEMINAR HOSTED BY ST TERESA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, HOHOE, GHANA

Following the first two successful GQAA quality assurance seminars hosted at Miklin Hotel in Accra and Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale, respectively, the third edition was hosted by St Teresa’s College of Education in Hohoe from the 17th to the 18th of June 2025. All the seminars took place in Ghana. The turnout was nothing short of amazing, with representatives from other colleges participating in the two-day event. The institutions that were represented include Peki, E.P., St. Francis, Akatsi and St. Teresa Colleges of Education. St Teresa, the host institution, had the highest number of delegates. To begin with, the GQAA honoured the Principal with a trophy for her leadership and bravery in hosting the first round of the GQAA College of Education Seminars. THE GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION 2nd QUALITY ASSURANCE SEMINAR HOSTED BY BAGABAGA & TAMALE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION

The Global Quality Assurance Association was warmly welcomed in the northern part of Ghana for its 2nd Edition of the Quality Assurance Seminars for all sectors: Knowledge, Skills, Tools, Systems & Solutions for Transformation, which ran from the 10th to the 11th of June 2025. The event was co-hosted by the Bagabaga & Tamale Colleges of Education. With over 40 participants showing up for the two-day workshop training, institutions represented included:
1. Tamale College of Education, Ghana
2. Bagabaga College of Education, Ghana
3. University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria
4. Tamale Technical University, Ghana
5. Bolgatanga Technical University, Ghana
6. C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Ghana

Highlights from the Central Region Quality Assurance Seminar Hosted by Komenda College of Education

The serene campus of Komenda College of Education in the Central Region played host to a transformative GQAA Quality Assurance Seminar organized to equip participants with practical tools, strategies, and mindset shifts. The two-day event from the 8th to 9th of July 2025 drew people together, united by a shared vision of strengthening quality and quality assurance (QA) practices across institutions and workplaces.Recognizing that true quality begins with individuals from within their organizations and institutions, the seminar started with thought-provoking sessions focused on mindset and mindset change. Dr. Violet Makuku, the GQAA Director, emphasized that without a transformed and renewed mind, it becomes almost impossible to fully embrace and practice quality and QA in our day-to-day activities. Participants reflected on personal attitudes and cultural barriers, examining how deeply held beliefs shape organizational effectiveness and the pursuit of excellence. Beyond personal transformation, interactions drifted into a global understanding of quality and QA, underscoring their significance as compliance tools and drivers of continuous improvement and institutional strengthening. GREENING TVET CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP

As the global climate crisis intensifies and industries shift toward more sustainable practices, the demand for green jobs and skills has never been greater (ILO, 2018). Across Africa, this shift presents both a challenge and an opportunity to equip young people with the knowledge and competencies they need to build careers that not only sustain livelihoods but also protect the planet for future generations (African Development Bank (AfDB), 2016). In response to this challenge, the Ghana TVET Service, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), organized a transformative Capacity Building Workshop on Greening Jobs and Skills for TVET Staff from June 2 to 5, 2025, in Ho, Volta Region. One of the most prominent TV channels in Ghana, ChannelOne TV featured Dr. Violet Makuku in an episode of THE WOMAN IN YOU WITH ZOE on Sunday, 23rd of March 2025. Hosted by Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo, the show celebrates outstanding women making a difference and contributing towards sustainable development in Ghana and the world at large. The show serves to uplift and empower women to continue to be resilient and be of positive impact through sharing success stories of women who have defied the odds in societies where women are marginalized and misrepresented. Embrace AI or become obsolete – Quality Assurance Expert to Africa’s tertiary schools

The Director of the Global Quality Assurance Association (GQAA), Dr. Violet Makuku, has called on tertiary institutions in Africa to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) or risk falling behind in global education standards. Speaking at a three-day symposium on Thursday, 27th, February 2025, on Quality Assurance in Higher and Tertiary Education, Dr. Makuku stressed that AI is no longer a future concept but a present reality. THE AFRICAN UNION’S AFRICA SKILLS WEEK EVENT-ACCRA, GHANA, 14-18 OCTOBER 2024

The overall view from the GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION (GQAA) is that The AFRICA SKILLS WEEK event slated for the 14th-18th October 2024, in Accra, Ghana, was one of the most interactive, informative, diversified and productive events of 2024. The 14th African Network for Internationalization Education (ANIE) Conference 2024 in partnership with Obreal Global, University of Cape Coast, Laweh Open University College & All Africa Students’ Union (AASU) started well and ended on a high note. ANIE is really walking the talk of breaking silos & building bridges as part of fulfilling SDG17: Partnerships for goals. THE GLOBAL QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES VISIT PETROSOL GHANA LTD

On the 5th of February 2024, the Global Quality Assurance Association (GQAA) executives paid an official visit to PETROSOL Ghana Ltd, which is a leading Ghanaian-owned Oil Marketing Company (OMC) based in Ghana. They were received by the company’s *Head of Human Resources, Mr. David L. O. Mills,* on behalf of the CEO. Makuku, was invited to witness the investiture of Venerable Dr. Okyere Korankye as the principal of St. Monica’s College of Education Mampong-Ashanti on the 27th of January 2023. It was a great honour and privilege to be part of an event which saw the new and 1st male Principal of this College of Education.
